Hi....just found this website and glad to see my old school is still alive and well. I attended in 1953 when I was 6 years old....you do the age math! Still remember some of the fun us kids had but none of the teacher's names from that era.

hey drapers mills.
so odd to come back and see the website, i left in 2000, and am now in my second year of university..the time has flown by so fast and now my little cousin is at the school - and my dad is BT Dave coming in and enlightening the pupils with more knowledge about communications that you can shake a stick at! i hope to join him in some lessons soon, so i will come and say hello to everyone - well anyone there who still remembers me :D

Hi From Australia. I started my school life at drapers back in 1964, by looking at the arial picture not much has changed, it's nice to see you are keeping the place to it's near originality. I have many fond memories of the school,Great Web Site all the best

Hi I used to go to Drapers Mills School a long time ago. I am 50 now. I am pleased to see the school is still in existence as many are not. I have very fond memories of attending the school and of my friends in those days. Good Luck to everyone in the new school year. Your school days are definitely the best.

well, where can i start? i started drapers in 1994 (if i remember correctly) for reception my teacher was Mrs Edwards, year one Mrs Hitch, year two mrs hixon, year 3 Miss Reese (now Mrs Emmerson), year 4 Mr whitehead, year 5 Mrs Banfield and Miss Seymour for year 6...Ii see that they have reconstructed some of the school, additional buildings here and there, and now a fantastic nursery... missing all the good times we had at drapers....
great memories!!!! xx

I used to attend this fantastic school, it was in the early 80's. Miss Carmichael was the head until Mr Adams took over. I remember the teachers well. I started off in Mrs. john's class, a vivid memory of that year was when the school brought it's first colour television, and we watched the Mary Rose being raised from the sea bed. Then i was with Mrs Wells for the next year, Mrs Matthews was our 1st teacher in junior sch, followed by Mr.Sowden who was Mr Corbett's successor as deputy head, then Miss Biggs and finally an unsung hero was Mr Jones in the final year, he was brilliant. I remember the big green hut which housed 2 classrooms, and apparently there is a photo of me in the school standing next to the tree which blew down in the playground in the 1987 storms. The best days of my life were here.
