Class 4KP- Class Teacher:Mr Kendall/Miss Punchard
Welcome to 4KP's Class page. On this page you will find useful information over the year; if you can think of anything else you would like to see please let me know.
This term we have P.E. on Wednesday. Your child wil need a T shirt (preferably in their house colour) , shorts and plimsolls. We have swimming on Fridays: your child will need a swimming costume and towel. Goggles may be used and children may bring an extra piece of fruit to eat after swimming.
Year 4 enjoyed a fun musical experience with a visit from Kala Arts . Surgit showed the children lots of Indian instruments. They had lots of fun playing the instruments. We are very proud to report that Surgit thought the children were very well behaved and listened attentively. Well done year 4!
Our topic for this term is Volcanoes and Earthquakes. Our focus in reading this year, is to improve our children's comprehension skills. Please help your child by listening to them read and asking them questions about their reading to check they have understood. It is much more valuable to read a small amount and talk about it, rather than read pages and pages without understanding. We would be happy to speak to you if you would like more information on supporting your child's reading.
Homework: It is expected that you will
-
read daily for at least 10 minutes
-
learn your weekly spelling lists; it might help to write them out each day, sound them out to a family member, read them once a day, or you may have a different method.
-
learning times tables; start by learning them in order saying the whole sentence (1 x 3 = 3, 2 x 3 = 6 etc.) then recalling them in a random order again saying the whole sentence out each time. You could say them as you walk to and from school or in the bath.
