Drapers Mills - where every child really matters.

  • Class 6M - Class Teacher: Mr Manclark

Welcome to 6M's class page.  On this page you will find useful information over the year. If you can think of anything else you would like to see on this page then please let me know.

PE

Please can you have a PE kit in school on PE days (Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Failure to do so delays the lesson whilst we are looking for kit for you and if we cannot find any suitable kit you will miss valuable PE time. You will need a T-shirt (ideally in the colour of your House) and shorts for indoor lessons and trainers for outdoor lessons.  You may also like to bring a pair of track suit trousers and a jumper for outdoor lessons when the weather starts to get a bit cooler. You will also need a swimming kit for the Fridays when it is our turn - towel, goggles (if you would like to use them) and a costume. Please see the attached timetable for swimming to see when you have swimming next.

It has been proved that a child’s full and active participation in PE leads to a healthy body and a healthy, more effective mind.

 Homework

It is expected that you will: -

- read daily for at least 10 minutes; what you read is up to you:

instructions, newspapers, magazines, a book from school or one

you have at home.

- learn your weekly spelling lists; it might help to write them out

each day, sound them out to a family member, read them once a

day, or you may have a different method.

- learning times tables; start by learning them in order saying the

whole sentence (1 x 3 = 3, 2 x 3 = 6 etc.) then recalling them in a

random order again saying the whole sentence out each time. You

could say them as you walk to and from school or in the bath.

- complete each termly project in time: you will be given a topic

each term with ideas for written work, drawing / art work,

investigations (books / internet) and 3D models.  There will be

something you can enjoy doing with your family.  When you bring

in your work be prepared to talk to either Mr Manclark or Miss

Copeland about your work; don't worry if you start by saying that

your parents / brother / sister helped.

I will also be handing out weekly homework activities on a Monday morning. These will need to be completed and returned by Friday at the latest. Whenever possible, I will try to post these activities on this page so that you can access them from home.
